Save Our State Parks

I received an email from Mac Farrell, who is a Preservation Associate for Environment California (EC). Environment California is a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization working to keep open the 70 state parks slated for closure (Annendal is one). Mac recommends we go to recreation businesses (camping, biking, hiking, surfing, kayaking, etc.) and get signatures from managers/store owners on EC’s statement of support. In addition, if anyone knows an elected official (preferably Mayors and City Councilmen) contact them and get them on board.

Klunking: Remembering Mountain Biking's Beginnings

Everything has a beginning, and mountain biking is no exception. Back in the 1970 Charley Kelly and Gary "the Fish" Fisher would invite a group of about 200 people, the entire Klunking, er mountain biking community back then, to their repack-bike-race down the fire roads in Marin County.  When the first races were ran the only brakes available at the time were coaster brakes, and they would smoke so bad by the end of the hill they would need to be repacked with greese. Hense the name of the race.
