[img_assist|nid=337|title=Sacramento Slickrock|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=200|height=125] On Sunday, Feb. 10, eight riders attacked the trails at Granite Bay. We did just one loop, but due to multiple crashes it took us the full two hours. Spending time trying to get the most air over a jump also ate up half an hour! We hung out at the deli around the corner to tell stories and figure out who had the best perspective on the carnage. Join us next week in this regular ride.

[img_assist|nid=343|title=Mike's Bikes|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=200|height=125]On Saturday. Feb. 9, 12 FATRAC volunteers worked on the Olmstead Loop in preparation for the Cool Mountain Bike Race on March 9. Mike's Bikes brought bagels and coffee before the trail work and supplied gifts for the workers afterwards. We trimmed back the berry bushes and improved the route for the racers. If you have not registered for the race or volunteered to help out, call Sean and Mary at 530-367-5832.

If you are thinking about leading a FATRAC ride in the near future, please download this Word document. It has the sign in sheet and the Ride Leaders Guidelines. This will help you remember what to do before, during and after the ride. If you have any questions, or are interested in leading a ride, contact Craig Wilson, President, from the "Contact Us" page.

[img_assist|nid=321|title=Groupshot|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=200|height=125]On Sunday, Jan. 20, fourteen FATRAC members spent a couple of hours working on drainage at the Foresthill Divide Loop Trail. The Hub bicycle shop sponsored the trail work by bringing fruit scones that were a full breakfast on their own and some great gifts for the workers, including a CamelBak, socks, a first aid kit and other great bike gear. The Flour Garden Bakery provided coffee to go with the scones. But it was not all food and swag.

[img_assist|nid=330|title=Groupshot|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=200|height=125]Fifteen FATRAC riders showed up on Saturday to hit the trails around Folsom Lake. We started with an immediate climb up the hill for a view of what is left of the lake. There were a number of other riders on the trails because Total Body Fitness was sponsoring a family ride that day also. The advantage was that we were able to demo some Trek and Gary Fisher bikes!

[img_assist|nid=316|title=FDLT|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=200|height=150]After a week of much-needed rainstorms, FATRAC riders were able to log some much-needed miles in the dirt/mud. The trail was in great condition, with only a few loose spots, thanks to the trail work hours that we have put in this trail. There was just enough fog to make the riding mysterious, without endangering the riders. The views into the canyon with the low-lying clouds and bright green moss on the trees almost distracted us as we rolled along the swooping single-track.

[img_assist|nid=311|title=Christmas Bike|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=191|height=200]One of the Christmas give-aways that FATRAC participated in this year was to give a very nice mountain-bike to an 8th grader from Cavitt Junior High. College Cyclery in Sacramento donated a Haro mountain bike for FATRAC to give to a needy child. We chose Cavitt Junior High because we use their parking lot as the staging area for our Granite Bay rides on a regular basis. I met with the Principal and described what we wanted to do.
