Spring Fling

Saturday, May 15 was our annual award celebration for the volunteers who gave their time for the success of the club. Those people who helped on trailwork days, led rides and lead other club activities were given raffle tickets for great prizes provided by our local bike shops. The catered lunch was provided by Bicycle Chef. Almost 50 people enjoyed the monthly club ride, then we ate and had the raffle. Music was provided by our own Joe Bryant from Skip's Music. Come out to our next trailwork on May 22 so that you can enjoy next year's Spring Fling even more. Check out the cool video that Kurt made with his Go Pro camera:  http://vimeo.com/11954135.

ASRA Volunteers needed for AMGEN Tour of California Bike Race

Auburn State Recreation Area (ASRA) needs 12-15 volunteers to assist during the AMGEN Tour of California bike race on Sunday May 16th.   The race will travel through ASRA from for about 30 minutes between about 1pm and 2pm; the exact timing is dependent on the progress of the race.

Bicycle Emporium's Trailwork

We had 15 people show up for the trailwork on FDLT this past Sunday.  The weather was perfect for cutting back poison oak and other brush. This trail is in great shape for the summer. Next time you are in Bicycle Emporium, let them know how much you appreciate their support of the local trails. they provided coffee and food in the AM and swag that we raffled off at the end.

ABW Try the Divide

You should have been there!  Auburn Bike Works provided coffee and bagels in the morning and the weather was perfect for our monthly Try the Divide ride.  Sixty-two riders showed up for an excellent ride around the Foresthill Divide Loop Trail. We broke up into ability groups and everyone had a great time. FATRAC provided sodas, chili, cheese and chips for the after-ride party.  Join us on April 25 for our next trail work to keep this trail in good shape.

What A Weekend!

The weather cooperated and produced a great weekend for riding and trailwork. Last month's trailwork prepared the FDLT to shed the water so that Saturday's ride was perfect! There was no standing water and just a few muddy spots. Ten riders showed up and had a ball doing the FDLT and the full Connector Trails.

Then on Sunday, Auburn Bike Works sponsored our monthly trailwork on the Olmstead Loop to prepare for the Cool Race next weekend. Over twenty people showed up to cut star thistle and fix drainage issues. If we get a week of sunshine, the course will be in perfect conditions. Stop by the shop and say, "Thank You," to Lisa and her crew for sponsoring the trailwork and the race.

Come out for our next trailwork so that you can share in that pride of ownership that comes with sweat equity in our trails.

February Try The Divide

If you were scared off by the rain clouds, you missed a great ride! Around 50 brave souls showed up for our monthly club ride on the Foresthill Divide Loop Trail on Saturday. The third Saturday of every month we have a standing ride that breaks into ability groups so that everyone gets to ride with people of their own speed and fitness level. We had a strong group led by Jim and Cathy who went first, then Franke, Bobbie and Nate lead a large (30+) group of intermediates and Phred led 13 in the last group. Everyone came back glowing about perfect trail conditions (we had done a trailwork just the week before). I had chili, chips and cheese waiting for them with cold sodas. Everyone had a great time and then had to scramble home when the rain finally started falling.  The timing was perfect. Join us next month on the third Saturday for our Try the Divide Ride.

FATRAC's annual wine country bike tour, campout and mountain bike weekend May 7th - 9th

FATRAC 's annual bike tour of the tasting rooms of Dry Creek Valley and mountain bike campout weekend will be happening the weekend of May 7-9 this year. The date printed in FATRAC 's winter newsletter is incorrect.

FATRAC's annual Tahoe multi mountain bike club campout and trailwork weekend August 13th - 15th 2010.

Join FATRAC, BONC, MBOSC, ROMP, and other Northern California mountain bike clubs for our annual Tahoe multi club campout, which will include rides, a half day of trailwork, movie night, a raffle, and hanging out with other mountain bikers from all over Northern California.

This year the campout is happening on the weekend of August 13th -15th.

We'll be staying at Zephyr Cove campground on the east side of Lake Tahoe. This is a walk in camground, so your car may be a few hundred feet from where we will camp.

STAY HOME---SAVE A TRAIL!

FATRAC volunteers do a lot to maintain the trails that we all enjoy. Please do not ride on the local trails this weekend.  FATRAC is cancelling our ride scheduled for Cronan Ranch on Saturday, 2/6, because of the rain.  The rain in the past couple of days has saturated the ground and more rain is expected on Saturday. If you go play in the mud tomorrow you will do damage that will cost our volunteers hours to repair. Give the trails time to absorb the water and dry out a little. If you are leaving furrows in the trailbed, you are doing harm.

Salmon Falls 1/30/10

6 RidersSix FATRAC'ers showed up to ride the 16 mile Salmon Falls - Sweetwater loop on Saturday. Crisp air and tacky trail conditions...we got a bit of an upper body workout from lifting our bikes over all the downed large Oak trees as well.
