Pioneer Trail
Pioneer trail is a very well built out-n-back trail which can be divided into two secions.
Starting at Harmony Ridge Market the trail gradually climbs for 6.3 miles at an easy 2% average grade all along the north of Hwy 20. This section of trail can be ridden by just about anyone comfortable on two wheels.
The second section begins after crossing Hwy 20 at the White Cloud camp ground. The trail then follows an old flume which used to deliver water to Nevada City and surrounding areas. There are some short steep climbs, but well worth it. This section is just under 10 miles to the Omega rest stop with an a average grade of 2%.
The overall ride is just over 15 miles one way with a 1630 foot elevation gain, averaging 2% grade. Ridden as a full out-n-back you'll get a terriffic 30 mile ride, and the return trip is quite exilirating.
Trail Head: Harmony Ridge Market; 4.2 miles East on Hwy 20 of the Hwy 49/Hwy 20 intersection.
