Land Acquisition
[img_assist|nid=511|title=ARC|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=200|height=113]Tired of riding the same trails? Looking for some new experiences? Ever wondered what the South Fork American River Canyon looks like upstream of the Salmon Falls Bridge? The American River Conservancy (ARC) is looking for private donations to fund the acquisition of a parcel near the Salmon Falls Bridge over the South Fork of the American River. This 45 acre parcel is a critical parcel in building a multi-use non-motorized trail connecting the State Park facilities at Salmon Falls with the trail system at Cronan Ranch near Pilot Hill. Cost to acquire this parcel is $560,000 and the funding needs to be in place by December 15th of this year to close escrow. The good news ARC has found two State Agencies to provide $500,000 of public funds. The remaining $60,000 needs to be met through private donations. Those individuals or businesses able to make donations of $500 or more will be recognized on a bronze plaque at the new Salmon Falls trailhead. Those who can contribute $5,000 or more will be honored with a well-maintained picnic table and bronze plaque along the trail route. Bike club members or the employees of a bike shop can contribute together to come up with $500 or $5,000 to have a club or business name on the plaque. Money raised in excess of the purchase price will be used for ARC river trail projects. Please consider giving what you can to make this acquisition happen.
