2008 Cool Mountain Bike Race

Racers and Volunteers wanted for the 2008 Cool Mountain Bike Race!! Sunday, March 9th will bring the 16th annual Cool Mountain Bike Race! The race is held on the Olmstead Loop in Cool, CA, located behind the Fire Station, on Hwy 49, 6 miles south of Auburn. The race course is approximately 10 miles long and consists of 85% fire roads and 15% single track with several grades and water crossings. Race categories include one, two, and three lap options. The course will be muddy on race day! Besides a fun day in the mud, your race entry will also get you a free Cool Race T-shirt and entry into a remarkable post-race raffle, including several mountain bike frames and bikes!
In addition to being a great race, the Cool MTB race is a fundraiser for FATRAC and the Auburn State Recreation Area trail system (i.e., Foresthill Divide, Connector, Confluence, Tunnel trail, etc.). Race monies have been used for a variety of trail construction/maintenance projects within the park, including bridge building materials, culverts, gravel for staging areas and trail drainage, trail signs and trailhead kiosks, and Park radios for the MTB and Canyon Keepers’ trail patrol.
The race will be held, Rain or Shine (or snow!). Regardless of the weather, we encourage you to come out and see the spectacle that is the Cool Mountain Bike Race!
To Race: Pick up a race entry form at your local bike shop, or go on-line to www.auburnbikeworks.com to register! Hurry! This race tends to fill up fast!
To Volunteer: Please contact Sean or Mary Allan at 530-367-5832 or email us at allansx2 at usamedia.tv to let us know that you’d like to help out at the race!
