New Bike For Christmas

[img_assist|nid=311|title=Christmas Bike|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=191|height=200]One of the Christmas give-aways that FATRAC participated in this year was to give a very nice mountain-bike to an 8th grader from Cavitt Junior High. College Cyclery in Sacramento donated a Haro mountain bike for FATRAC to give to a needy child. We chose Cavitt Junior High because we use their parking lot as the staging area for our Granite Bay rides on a regular basis. I met with the Principal and described what we wanted to do. He gave my name and number to a needy family whose child attended his school. They called me and we arranged for the 8th grader to come on a ride with us on Dec. 23 at Granite Bay. One FATRAC member donated a bottle cage and The Hub bicycle shop donated a water bottle. We took the young man and his cousin for a ride on the Granite Bay trails. We talked with him about safe and responsible trail etiquette and how to handle the bike. He and his cousin both had a great time. They made it all of the way to the top of the hill overlooking the lake. Being able to give him this bike and make his Christmas even better was one of the highlights of my holiday season.
